A total of 70,990 crimes were committed, an increase of 12 percent.

House burglaries saw an increase of 9 percent after 7 years in decline.

Violent crime increased by 2 percent to 6,635. Nationally though, it rose by 13.6 percent

Vehicle crime - stealing of and from vehicles - was up by 9 percent.

The Constabulary recorded 54,930 public order incidents, half involving youths

The largest rise was in cases of criminal damage. This now makes up 23% of crime recorded.

Most promisingly is the news that the detection rate by the Police for all crime is 26 percent which is above the national figure by 3 percent
